Surgical Assistant - Surgical Assistant

Job Details:

• Work under the direction and supervision of the attending physician to provide aid in exposure, hemostasis, closure, and other intraoperative technical functions
• First and/or second assist cardiac surgical procedures
• Cover regional call to support the Cardiac Surgery program across the system
• Cover call for Transplant, both donor and recipient, requiring ability to travel via cars, ambulances, planes, and helicopters
• Perform preoperative and postoperative duties to facilitate the needs of surgical patients during the perioperative period
• Support cardiac surgery cases across the system in and out of the operating room, including emergencies within the hospital and procedures in the cardiac cath lab
• Perform a variety of surgeries and procedures including coronary, valve, transplant, robotic, and structural heart disease including hybrid structural and aortic interventions
• Graduation from an approved Surgical Assistant program required
• Less than 1 year of experience taking Second Call for Cardiac service line required
• National certification from NBSTSA, NCCSA, or ABSA preferred
