Med Surg RN Job in Penn Yan, NY

Finger Lakes Health Soldiers and Sailors Memorial Hospital in Penn Yan, NY is hiring a full-time Registered Nurse for acute care Med/Surg. This is a 96-week travel position starting July 20, 2026.

Position Details

• Specialty: Medical-Surgical Nursing
• Schedule: 3x12 rotating shifts covering days, evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays (36 hours per week)
• Weekly Pay: $2,187.90
• Duration: 96 weeks

Requirements

• Current New York State RN licensure
• Minimum 1 year of experience in a Med/Surg environment
• BLS and ACLS certifications required

Core Responsibilities

• Assess patient and family needs through active listening, direct observation, and analysis of data from technology and health team communication
• Develop individualized, age-appropriate, and culturally relevant care plans in collaboration with the interdisciplinary team
• Monitor and evaluate patient progress, adjusting the plan of care based on patient response or condition changes
• Administer medications and apply nursing interventions with demonstrated skill
• Develop specialized skills in cardiac care including telemetry monitoring
• Provide patient and family education to support self-care beyond hospitalization, including lifestyle changes to promote health and healing
• Promote comfort and provide emotional support within a healing environment
• Delegate tasks and interventions consistent with team members' education, training, and scope of practice
• Comply with infection prevention strategies and maintain competencies required for the assigned patient population
• Report potential safety risks and inappropriate or questionable practices
• Conduct rounds per protocol and utilize tools and equipment to keep patients and families informed, engaged, and safe
