Ultrasound Technologist - Vascular Job in Waterloo, IA

UnityPoint - Allen Hospital in Waterloo, IA is seeking an Ultrasound Technologist to join their sonography department on a temporary basis. This is a 91-day assignment beginning November 16, 2026, with a weekly pay rate of $2,707.20.

Position Overview

You will perform an average of 15 ultrasound scans per day across general, OB/GYN, and vascular patient populations. Your responsibilities will include abdomen imaging, small parts imaging, and obstetric scans (first, second, and third trimester non-high-risk cases) with dating, measurements, biophysical profiles, and fetal anatomy assessment. You will also perform transabdominal and transvaginal gynecologic imaging studies.

Core Duties

• Perform upper and lower venous doppler studies
• Conduct lower arterial doppler, ankle-brachial index (ABI), and aorta duplex examinations
• Perform carotid arterial doppler imaging
• Execute hepatic and renal doppler studies
• Assist with ultrasound-guided fine needle aspirations, paracentesis, and thoracentesis procedures (experience preferred but not required)

Schedule and On-Call Expectations

The position is structured as 5x8 rotating shifts. You will participate in on-call coverage Monday through Friday from 9:00 PM to 6:00 AM on a rotating schedule shared among day staff, plus weekend on-call coverage as needed from 6:30 PM to 6:00 AM.

Required Qualifications

• Minimum 24 months of sonography experience
• Documented experience in general/abdomen ultrasound
• Documented experience in non-high-risk OB/GYN imaging
• Documented experience in vascular sonography
• ARDMS (AB) certification
• BLS certification (AHA or ARC)
• EPIC EMR proficiency
• Valid driver's license (must be located more than 50 miles from the facility)
• Skills checklist specific to Sonographer and/or Vascular discipline

Preferred Qualifications

• ARDMS (RVT) certification
• ARDMS (OB/GYN) certification
