Opportunity:

RN - Tele

Job Details:

• 12-hour night shifts from 6:45 PM to 7:15 AM
• 36 hours per week offered
• Contract length of 13 to 26 weeks available
• Patient ratios of 1:5-6; must be comfortable taking up to 6 patients during surge
• Every other weekend required, plus 2 Mondays and 2 Fridays in a 6-week period
• On-call required; frequency depends on patient census
• Float requirement applies
• Self-scheduling with leadership oversight; no block scheduling
• 36-hour unit orientation required; must be available every day during week one for hospital orientation
• Minimum 2 years of experience required; must have similar experience with ratios and acuity
• First-time travelers accepted
• Must pass EKG testing prior to start
• Primary cardiac and stroke unit; patient diagnoses include unstable angina, low-risk chest pain evaluation, CHF, dysrhythmias, new CVA/TIA, and pre/post care for pacemaker implantation, implanted cardioverter/defibrillators, cardiac catheterization, and TR bands
• Must be comfortable managing and titrating cardiac drips including Cardizem, Dopamine, and Amiodarone
• High-turnover unit with 78 to 90 patients per week; nurse with 6-patient assignment may turn over complete assignment
• Team lead available to assist with admissions and discharges
• Equipment includes telemetry, pulse ox, high-flow O2 (stable patients only), non-rebreather mask (palliative only), and BiPAP (chronic use only)
• Charting systems: Pyxis, Dimensions (Epic), SBAR; Epic experience preferred
• Required certifications: ACLS, BLS, NIHSS
• Required skills include IV start, telemetry, cardiac drip management and titration, interpretation of dysrhythmias, central line care, heparin protocols, pacemaker management, pre/post cardiac cath, and TR band
• PCU/stepdown experience preferred but not required; cardiac telemetry experience is required
• Dress code: Navy blue or white scrubs; Novant t-shirts permitted; jackets must match uniform color and material (no fleece); no Crocs with holes
