RN - Med Surg Neuro

Job Details:

• Must have surgical experience including urology, trauma, orthopedic, general surgery, ENT, and other surgical diagnoses
• Minimum 2 years of nursing experience required
• Patient ratio experience of 5-6 patients required
• Epic charting system experience required
• Work every other weekend required
• Float to other units as needed
• Pre-approved time off limited to one request per contract
• RTO is limited during holidays with holiday rotation required
• Must have permanent license in-hand at time of submission; temporary licenses are not accepted
• Required certifications: BLS, NIHSS; ACLS preferred
• Required skills include: BiPAP/CPAP management, blood product administration, central line blood draw, colostomy/ileostomy management, CVA care, feeding tube care and management, heparin administration, high flow nasal cannula (HFNC), insulin administration, interpretation of arterial blood gases (ABGs), interpretation and management of dysrhythmias, isolation precautions/PPE, telemetry monitoring, tracheostomy care and management, wound care/wound vac, PICC line management, pre/post hemodialysis management, pre/post neurosurgery care, spinal cord injury care, traumatic brain injury care, PCA management, peripheral line care and management, phlebotomy, and use of rapid response/code teams
• Care for adult and geriatric patient populations
• Patient diagnoses include CVA, TIA, AMS, and majority of general medical diagnoses
• Unit includes neuro surgeries and neuro PIN patients
• 40-bed unit with interdisciplinary support including physical therapy, respiratory services, pharmacy, radiology, social services, and rapid response teams
