PACU RN Job in Big Spring, TX

Shannon Medical Center in Big Spring is seeking a Registered Nurse for the Post Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU). This is a 91-day travel assignment beginning July 13, 2026, with a 5x8 day shift schedule and shared on-call responsibilities.

Position Details

• Shift: 5x8 days with rotating call coverage shared between two RNs
• Call rotation: Monday, Tuesday, Friday–Sunday one week; Wednesday–Thursday the following week
• Overnight and weekend call required
• Weekly pay: $2,332.80
• Patient ratio: 1:1
• Daily census: 3–5 patients across 4 rooms

Patient Population & Experience

You will recover patients from general surgery, GI endoscopy, and post-operative procedures. The patient population includes adolescents, adults, pediatrics, and geriatrics. A minimum of 2 years of PACU experience is required, along with travel healthcare experience. Community hospital and Trauma Level II experience are preferred.

Required Skills & Competencies

• Phase I PACU recovery and Phase II recovery protocols
• Conscious sedation and procedural sedation administration and monitoring
• Pain assessment and management
• Dysrhythmia recognition and management
• Airway assessment
• Monitored anesthesia care (MAC)
• Reversal agents and emergency medication administration
• Pre- and post-operative procedures
• Epic electronic health record system

Required Certifications

• ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support)
• BLS (Basic Life Support)
• PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support)
