First Assist Technician Job in San Antonio, TX

Methodist Hospital Northeast is seeking an Allied Health Professional to work as a First Assist Technician in our 5-operating-room surgical suite in San Antonio, Texas. This is a 13-week contract position running from September 2, 2026, offering a 4x10 day shift (6:30 AM to 5:00 PM) at $1,868 weekly.

Role Responsibilities

• Provide first assist support in a 1-to-1 patient ratio in the OR
• Scrub and assist in open heart procedures, requiring advanced surgical knowledge
• Support procedures across orthopedics, general surgery, gynecology, robotics, urology, vascular, cardiovascular, neuro, and thoracic specialties
• Operate basic OR equipment including cautery units, video monitors, arthroscopy equipment, and positioning devices
• Document patient care in the Meditech EMR system
• Participate in rotating on-call schedule: minimum one night per week and one weekend per 5-week rotation

Requirements

• Current BLS and ACLS certification
• OR circulator experience required
• Ability to scrub open heart cases
• Preferred: experience in orthopedics, general, gynecology, robotics, urology, vascular, cardiovascular, neuro, or thoracic procedures
