CVOR First Assist Job in Washington, DC

Join Medstar Washington Hospital Center as a Certified Surgical First Assistant in the cardiovascular operating room. This 91-day travel assignment runs from July 20, 2026, with a weekly pay of $2,407.68.

Schedule and Hours

• Work 4x10 day shifts, 6:30 AM to 5:00 PM, Monday through Thursday
• On-call responsibilities with weekend and holiday rotation: one weekend every 8 weeks, Saturday and Sunday, 6:30 AM to 3:30 PM
• 36 hours of orientation provided

Required Credentials and Experience

• Allied Health Professional credential
• DC state license required and must be in hand upon submission
• Current certifications: BLS, ARC-ST, AST, ACS, SASA, and CAAHEP (CHEA) CSA
• Minimum 2 years of experience in acute inpatient and outpatient operating rooms
• 1 previous travel assignment required

Surgical Services and Technical Skills

• Handle 50–100 cases daily across 23 operating rooms
• Surgical specialties include bariatrics, orthopedic and spine, total joints, robotics, thoracic, trauma, urology, and endocrine surgery
• Work with Da Vinci Si, SP, and Xi Surgical Systems, and Mako Surgical System
• Skills required: suturing all wound layers, digital tissue manipulation, vessel clamping and cauterization, suctioning, irrigation, and sponging
• Serve adult and geriatric patient populations

• Flu vaccine required with no exemptions
• Complete facility-specific modules within one week of contract signing
