Opportunity:

Registered Nurse - PACU

Job Details:

• 16-week assignment working day shifts from 7:00 AM to 7:30 PM
• Schedule includes one weekday shift (of your choosing) plus every Saturday and Sunday
• No on-call, no holidays required
• Guaranteed hours: 3 shifts per 13 weeks; cancelled shifts must be the regular assigned shift length
• Float limited to PACU or PreOp units only
• Minimum 2 years of PACU experience in a Level I Trauma Center required
• Critical care/ICU experience required
• Candidate home address must be at least 75 miles from the facility
• Required certifications: BLS, ACLS; CCRN and TNCC preferred
• Charting system: Epic (required)
• Scrub color: Navy Blue
• Must pass Relias EKG exam
• Care for adult, adolescent, and geriatric post-operative patients in a high-acuity PACU setting with 38 patient bays and an average daily census of 70–90
• Recover surgical patients across a wide range of specialties including neurosurgery, ENT, plastics, orthopedics, thoracic, vascular, trauma, general, colorectal, GYN, urological, electrophysiology, interventional radiology, and transplant (excluding open heart surgeries and liver transplants)
• Manage patients requiring artificial airways, invasive monitoring (including ICP), transfusions, and vasoactive drugs
• Required skills include: dysrhythmia recognition and management, blood product administration, phlebotomy, starting and maintaining IVs, IV vasopressors, ICP monitoring, care of ventilated patients, Phase I PACU, and pre-op assessment
• Experience with drains, vasoactive drips, mechanical ventilation, and recovery from general anesthesia required
• Experience with post cardiac surgery, lobectomy, chest trauma, exploratory laparotomy, splenectomy, and trauma patients required
• Interdisciplinary support available including respiratory services, interpretation services, and rapid response teams
• Maximum of 7 days of requested time off; no RTO permitted during the first week of assignment
