Opportunity:

RN - Tele Float Pool

Job Details:

• Night shift position working 7:00 PM to 7:00 AM
• 6-9 weekend shifts required per 6-week schedule
• Schedule is made by leadership 4-6 weeks in advance; travelers are expected to be flexible and help fill gaps in permanent scheduling
• All time off requests must be submitted prior to starting assignment
• May be asked to participate in holiday rotation
• Rare on-call or standby requirement for low census situations
• Hospital may cancel up to 4 shifts per 13-week assignment or 3 shifts for assignments less than 13 weeks
• Float pool position covering Zone 4 within a 60-mile radius of Garden City, KS - traveler is responsible for obtaining housing that makes floating throughout the full zone feasible
• No home base facility - schedules may assign a single facility for the week or provide a just-in-time assignment 1-2 hours before shift start
• Float facilities include Bob Wilson Memorial Hospital (Ulysses, KS), St. Catherine - Dodge City (Dodge City, KS), and St. Catherine - Garden City (Garden City, KS)
• May be asked to float into any acuity level including ICU (low acuity holds within skillset), PCU/Stepdown, and MS-Tele
• Units covered include General MS-Tele and various specialties including Cardiac, Neuro, Oncology, Rehab, Renal, Bariatrics, Ortho, Trauma, and ED Observation
• Patient population includes adults and geriatrics with diagnoses including cardiac, neuro, ortho, oncology, renal, urology post-surgical, general surgery, gynecology, psych/detox, ENT, and general medicine
• Nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:5-6 based on acuity
• Nurse aides available on units
• Designated charge nurse on each unit who typically does not take a patient assignment
• Required to titrate Heparin drips
• Respiratory therapy equipment including vents, CPAP, and BiPAP present on units
• Charting system: EPIC; Alaris experience preferred
• Must have 2 years of MS-Tele experience in the last 3 years
• Prior neuro experience preferred
• BSN not required
• Required certifications: ACLS (AHA), BLS (AHA), NIHSS
