About this role
Join Ochsner Lafayette General Medical Center as a Registered Nurse on the Med-Surg Telemetry unit. You will care for adult and geriatric patients across day, evening, and night shifts in a 6:1 patient ratio environment. This is a 91-day travel assignment beginning July 20, 2026, with 3x12 night shifts and weekend coverage as needed.
Your Clinical Responsibilities
- Monitor and interpret cardiac telemetry, manage dysrhythmias, and respond to cardiac events
- Administer cardiac drips without titration for blood pressure management
- Manage patients with diagnoses including chest pain, coronary artery disease, diabetes, peripheral vascular disease, COPD exacerbation, TIA, stroke, hypertension, atrial fibrillation, arrhythmias, wound infections, cellulitis, and GI bleeding
- Perform pre- and post-angiogram and angioplasty care (excluding sheath pulls)
- Assist with pacemaker/AICD, LINQ recorder, general surgical procedures, EGD, colonoscopy, cholecystectomy, appendectomy, and wound debridement
- Insert and manage chest tubes, central lines, perform thoracentesis and paracentesis
- Operate special equipment including telemetry monitors, chest tubes, and wound vacs
- Manage PICC lines, central lines, and blood product administration
- Administer IV insulin protocols and manage CVA care
Required Qualifications
- Current RN license (Compact or Louisiana)
- Minimum 2 years acute care experience
- BLS certification (AHA)
- Ability to interpret and manage dysrhythmias
Preferred Qualifications
- ACLS certification (AHA)
- NIHSS certification
- Epic charting system experience
