Medical Lab Technician Job in State College, PA

Mount Nittany Health is seeking a Medical Lab Technician for their clinical laboratory in State College, PA. This is a 91-day travel assignment with rotating evening shifts (5x8 schedule) and weekly pay of $2,024.

Your Role

You will perform accurate and prompt analyses on blood and other body fluids to support diagnosis and treatment of disease. Your responsibilities include specimen preparation, processing, and analysis using manual or automated methods to determine qualitative and quantitative results. You will ensure quality control criteria are met before releasing any reports and follow all established departmental protocols.

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare specimens by accurately identifying, logging, and entering all patient information into the system
• Process and analyze specimens to generate results consistent with established departmental standards
• Review all results for accuracy and completeness before release, repeating inconsistent or questionable results
• Maintain and troubleshoot laboratory instruments and equipment to ensure proper working condition
• Rotate, date, and test reagents as received or prepared to ensure accuracy and prevent expiration
• Verify patient identification prior to specimen collection at all times
• Participate in proficiency testing and quality assurance activities
• Assist with training technical personnel through demonstration and performance review
• Support implementation of new procedures and evaluation of new products or equipment

Requirements

You must hold a bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience. Current certification as MT or MLS with ASCP, AMT, NCCLS, or equivalent is required. Blood bank and microbiology experience is preferred, and you must maintain proficiency to work across all clinical departments of the laboratory.
