PCU RN Job in Asheville, NC

You'll work as an RN in the Progressive Care Unit at Mission Hospital in Asheville, NC. This is a 91-day travel assignment with 3x12 night shifts (6:45 PM – 7:15 AM), starting June 8, 2026. Weekly pay is $2,102.40.

Unit Overview

You'll support a 23-bed step-down unit and a 16-bed medical surgery progressive care unit. Patient ratios are 1:3–4 for step-down patients and 1:4–6 for medical surgery patients. Night shift staffing includes 1 charge nurse, 10 RNs, and 4 PCTs.

Clinical Responsibilities

• Provide care for stable vented patients, patients with trachs, chest tubes, and cardiac drips
• Perform trach care, chest tube management, and wound dressing changes
• Operate patient lifts and other standard PCU equipment
• Document and communicate using the Cerner EMR system
• May float to other medical surgery and progressive care units as needed

Requirements

• Current RN license
• Minimum 2 years nursing experience
• Required experience working with trachs
• ACLS and BLS certification
• Cerner experience preferred

Expectations

You must demonstrate flexibility and high clinical competence. Weekend requirement includes 6 Saturday or Sunday shifts per 6-week period. Navy blue scrubs are required.
