About this role

University of Virginia Medical Center is seeking a Respiratory Therapist for a 13-week assignment in our Children's Hospital, working night shifts on a 4x12 schedule. This role offers flexible scheduling with manager accommodation when possible, and you can choose between 36 or 48 hours per week. Every other weekend and every other holiday rotation is required.

You will provide respiratory care across multiple pediatric units, including the NICU, PICU, and acute care settings. Level 4 NICU experience is required, and Cardiac PICU experience is preferred. You must demonstrate competence in caring for patients in high-risk deliveries and acute care pediatrics, with the ability to float throughout the facility within your scope of practice.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver respiratory care in NICU, PICU, and other pediatric units
  • Operate specialized equipment including the Bunnell Jet Ventilator and HFOV 3100A
  • Document care using the Epic charting system
  • Work across all units of the Children's Hospital as needed
  • Support high-risk delivery teams

Required Qualifications:

  • RRT (Registered Respiratory Therapist) certification
  • BLS and NRP certifications
  • Virginia state respiratory therapy license (pending licenses accepted if temporary license obtained before start date)
  • ACCS certification preferred
  • Proficiency with Bunnell Jet Ventilator and HFOV 3100A
  • Epic charting experience required
  • BSN preferred
  • Current flu vaccination required with no exemptions

Assignment begins June 22, 2026, and runs for 91 days. Weekly compensation is $3,075.84. References are required for submission.
