About this role

You'll work on the medical/surgical unit at OU Health University of Oklahoma Medical Center, providing nursing care for patients before and after surgical procedures. This is a 3x12 day shift position for an 89-day assignment beginning May 4, 2026, with weekly pay of $2,397.60.

Your responsibilities include:

  • Care for surgical and step-down patients with varying acuity levels and complex health conditions
  • Manage post-operative patients with drains, wounds, tracheostomies, ostomies, nasogastric tubes, and other devices
  • Monitor physiological data and intervene appropriately when necessary
  • Administer medications and manage IV infusions and blood products per protocol
  • Document patient responses to nursing interventions and medical treatments
  • Assist physicians with examinations and minor diagnostic procedures
  • Communicate with patients and families regarding care plans and discharge instructions
  • Delegate tasks to support staff and coordinate referrals for ongoing patient care needs

Patient ratios: 5:1 for surgical patients; 3:1 for step-down area.

Required qualifications:

  • Associate's Degree in Nursing from an accredited program
  • Current RN License issued by Oklahoma State Board of Nursing or multistate compact license
  • Current Basic Life Support certification from American Heart Association
  • Minimum 1 year of acute care surgical floor nursing experience
  • Step-down/PCU experience required

Preferred qualifications: ENT and/or transplant experience. OR candidates will not be considered for this position.
