Med Surg RN Job in Parkersburg, WV

You'll work as a Registered Nurse on a 33-bed Med Surg Orthopedic/Neuro unit at WVU Camden Clark Medical Center in Parkersburg, WV. This is a 91-day travel assignment starting June 17, 2026, with 3x12 night shifts (7:00 PM – 7:30 AM) and a 30-minute lunch break.

Role and Responsibilities:

• Provide direct patient care with a 1:6 patient ratio in an all-private-room unit
• Manage patients recovering from elective orthopedic surgeries (hips, knees, shoulders), fractures from falls, back and neck neurosurgeries, and general Med Surg cases
• Administer IV fluids and manage PCA pumps; no heparin or other complex drips required
• Work with available respiratory-managed equipment including CPAP, BiPap, and high-flow oxygen
• Access remote telemetry monitored by the third floor; RNs are not required to read strips
• Collaborate with Patient Care Techs who handle vitals, fingerstick blood sugar checks, ADLs, and Foley discontinuation
• Float to other Med Surg units as needed; if floated to Telemetry, assignments stay within your skillset

Requirements:

• Current RN license with BLS (AHA) certification
• Experience with orthopedic patients and PCA pumps
• Epic EMR proficiency
• Valid, unexpired driver's license
• BSN not required

Orientation and Dress Code:

• 1 day of Epic training followed by 1 day of floor orientation with a preceptor
• Royal Blue scrubs required; scrub jackets must be royal blue if worn; no hoodies or sweat jackets

Compensation: $2,229.12 weekly.
