ICU - Intensive Care Unit

Job Details:

• Minimum 2 years of experience required; first-time travelers accepted
• Required certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS prior to start
• Patient population includes adults to geriatrics
• Patient ratio of 1:2-3; travelers should be prepared for the possibility of taking a 3rd patient
• Unit has 24 rooms with an average daily census of 19
• General diagnoses include ARDS, Sepsis, Stroke, STEMI, DKA, Post-op complications, Cardiogenic shock, GIB, COPD exacerbation, encephalopathy, Liver failure, Drug overdose, and ESRD on CRRT
• Required skills include care of ventilated patients, central line care/management, CVA/Acute Stroke management, CVVHD/CRRT, High Flow Nasal Cannula (HFNC), interpretation and management of dysrhythmias, Post Cardiac Surgery, Post Neurosurgery management, and suctioning (ETT, NT)
• Special equipment includes cardiac monitoring, BIS, Train of Four, Arctic Sun, FloTrac, and IABP
• Unit systems include Pyxis, Epic, and SBAR
• Scrub color: Navy Blue
• Schedule requires every other weekend unless specified otherwise
• Block scheduling is not guaranteed; no travel pairs regardless of unit placement
• Floating within facility and scope of practice as needed
• Maximum of 7 days of requested time off per contract; all RTO must be finalized at time of submission
• If one or two major holidays fall during assignment, no holiday RTO can be requested; if three holidays fall during assignment, one holiday RTO may be considered
• Major holidays include Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving/Black Friday, Christmas Eve/Christmas Day, and New Year's Eve/New Year's Day
• Interdisciplinary support available including IV Teams, Physical Therapy, Respiratory Services, Phlebotomy, Radiology, Social Services, Rapid Response Teams, Pharmacy, and more
• Orientation hours: 12 hours
