Med Surg RN Job in Oklahoma City, OK

You will work on the medical/surgical unit at OU Health University of Oklahoma Medical Center, providing nursing care for patients before and after surgical procedures. This role requires you to manage patient populations with varying acuity levels and complex health conditions.

• Care for surgical patients with a 5:1 patient ratio
• Support step-down/PCU patients with a 3:1 patient ratio
• Manage postoperative care including drains, wounds, tracheostomies, ostomies, nasogastric tubes, and other devices
• Monitor physiological data and implement appropriate interventions
• Administer medications, manage IV infusions, and handle blood products
• Document patient responses to nursing interventions and medical treatments
• Assist physicians with examinations and minor diagnostic procedures
• Communicate with patients and families regarding care plans and discharge instructions
• Delegate tasks to support staff and coordinate referrals for patient care needs

Requirements:

• Minimum 1 year of acute care surgical floor nursing experience
• Step-down/PCU experience required
• ENT and/or transplant experience preferred
• Associate's Degree in Nursing from an accredited program
• Current RN License issued by Oklahoma State Board of Nursing or multistate compact license
• Current Basic Life Support certification from American Heart Association
• Strong communication skills and ability to work effectively with diverse patient populations

Candidates with OR experience will not be considered for this position. This is a 3x12 day shift assignment beginning May 4, 2026, with a duration of 89 days. Weekly pay is $2,397.60.
