Opportunity:

RN - Tele Float Pool Stepdown

Job Details:

• Float pool position covering MedSurg Tele and PCU units across both campuses, including inpatient patients holding in the ED
• 12-hour shifts from 7:00 AM to 7:00 PM or 7:00 PM to 7:00 AM
• Every other weekend requirement
• Included in permanent staff rotation for holidays
• No on-call or standby requirement
• Schedule published 6 weeks out for 4 weeks at a time; travelers must be flexible
• Night shift will attempt to accommodate block scheduling
• Unit assignments communicated via text message 2 hours prior to shift start from staffing office
• Nurse-to-patient ratios: PCU 1:4, MedSurg Tele 1:5-6
• Minimum 1 year of experience in a PCU setting required
• Must be comfortable titrating drips including Heparin, Cardizem, Amiodarone, Nitro, Dopamine, Dobutamine, and Insulin
• Common patient population includes geriatric patients, orthopedic patients, post-procedural cardiac patients, post-MI, post-cardiac cath, and CABG post-op day 3-4
• Must be able to manage groin sites in the stepdown unit
• Must be able to interpret cardiac rhythm strips
• RT equipment includes CPAP and BiPAP in MedSurg at night; BiPAP, CPAP, and heated high flow in PCU
• Monitor techs monitor PCU and MedSurg Tele; stepdown monitors are on the unit
• Nurse aides are utilized in all settings
• Charge nurses are assigned to each unit and do not take patient assignments
• Charting system: Cerner
• Dress code: Solid color professional scrubs (transitioning to Navy scrubs per updated guidelines)
• Orientation includes an 8-hour general hospital orientation day, a 12-hour shift at West MedSurg Tele, and a 12-hour shift at West PCU
• Must pass dysrhythmia exam with a score of 80% or higher within two attempts prior to signing contract
• Required certifications: ACLS, BLS (AHA)
• BSN not required
• Active Arizona nursing license required
