Job Details:

• Work in a medical/surgical unit in a rural hospital setting
• Maintain nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:6
• Every other weekend requirement
• Maintain professional image and exhibit excellent customer relations with patients, visitors, physicians, and co-workers
• Assess patient needs through history collection, observation, physical examination, and data analysis
• Provide nursing interventions consistent with Plan of Care and standard practice guidelines
• Conduct hourly rounds utilizing the 4 P's methodology
• Foster environment demonstrating caring, compassion, and respect for patients, families, and visitors
• Utilize appropriate health and safety equipment to protect patients and staff
• Follow standard work protocols for central lines, chest tubes, foley and suprapubic catheters, pressure ulcers, restraints, and high fall risk patients
• Precept and mentor novice employees to support department performance
• Participate in Evidence Based Practice initiatives and hospital-system growth programs
• Demonstrate continued professional growth through goal setting and educational participation
• Understand proper storage and safety protocols for medications including large volume IVs, saline, and pre-packaged medication kits
