Operating Room RN Job in Charleston, SC

MUSC Health Charleston is seeking a Registered Nurse for the Operating Room on a 91-day travel assignment. You will work three 12-hour shifts per week, Monday through Friday, 6:30 AM to 7:00 PM, with on-call responsibility of approximately 5 to 8 calls per month including weekend coverage. Holiday call may be required.

Your Role:

• Scrub and circulate general OR cases, including Plastics, Colorectal, Urology, MIS, Pancreatic/Biliary, and Surgical Oncology procedures
• Work with 5 robotic surgical systems
• Administer blood and blood products
• Monitor cardiac function and conscious sedation
• Respond to codes and maintain fire safety and infection control protocols
• Perform universal protocol (time-out) procedures and start peripheral IVs
• Chart in Epic

Requirements:

• South Carolina or multi-state RN license in hand at contract start
• Minimum 2 years OR experience, with strong background in circulating and scrubbing general cases
• BLS (AHA only) and ACLS certification
• Competency in malignant hyperthermia awareness and latex allergy protocols
• Radiation badge required; provided by agency

What to Expect:

The facility operates 10 OR rooms with approximately 28 cases per day. You will receive 36 orientation hours. Interdisciplinary support includes IV teams, respiratory services, interpretation services, radiology, rapid response teams, pharmacy, and unit secretary assistance. The facility may call off one traveler shift per two-week pay period.
