PCU - Progressive Care Unit

RN - PCU

Job Details:

• 84 hours biweekly with a 72-hour guarantee; must agree to a 36/48-hour alternating schedule with the possibility of straight 48s
• Weekend shifts required as needed, which may include most weekends during the contract
• Block scheduling may be accommodated, but set schedules cannot be approved
• Must be agreeable to floating between Med Surg and PCU units
• Patient ratios: 5 patients during days, 6 patients during nights
• Treats adult and geriatric patient populations
• Patient diagnoses include MS/PCU overflow
• Interdisciplinary support includes physical therapy, respiratory services, interpretation services, radiology, social services, rapid response teams, and pharmacy
• Minimum 2 years of experience required; travel experience required
• Previous charge experience preferred
• Epic charting system experience strongly preferred
• Required certifications: ACLS, BLS, NIHSS
• Required skills include cardiac telemetry, central line care and management, blood product administration, BiPAP/CPAP management, titration of cardiac and vasoactive drips, titration of insulin drips, thrombolytic agents, tracheostomy care and management, wound care and wound vac, heparin protocols, high flow nasal cannula, interpretation of arterial blood gases, interpretation and management of dysrhythmias, pacemaker management, PICC line management, post cardiac angiogram care, pre/post cardiac catheterization, pre/post cardiac surgery, pre/post hemodialysis management, epidural analgesia, PCA, phlebotomy, IV insulin protocols, isolation precautions and PPE, and use of rapid response and code teams
