Respiratory Therapist Job in Charlottesville, VA

You will work as a Registered Respiratory Therapist on a 13-week contract assignment at University of Virginia Medical Center. This is a night shift position with 36 or 48 hours per week, including every other weekend and every other holiday. You will be based in Respiratory and Neuro Diagnostics, providing care to adult and geriatric patient populations across Surgical/Neuro, Heart and Vascular, Medical, and Unit Rotation service teams.

Your responsibilities include:

• Provide respiratory therapy services within your scope of practice
• Manage mechanical ventilation, BiPAP/CPAP, and high flow nasal cannula systems
• Perform and interpret arterial blood gas collection
• Assist with intubation and manage tracheostomy care
• Support bronchoscopy procedures
• Administer nitric oxide and inhaled Flolan therapies
• Manage patient transport and weaning from mechanical ventilation
• Float between sections on occasion as needed
• Work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team environment using Epic charting

You will need:

• RRT certification and current BLS certification
• ACLS required; ACCS preferred
• Virginia state license (candidates with pending VA license may apply if able to obtain a temporary license before the start date and hold another active state license)
• Minimum 4 years of respiratory therapy experience; candidates with 2+ years considered
• Trauma Level II experience required; Trauma Level I experience preferred
• Epic charting experience
• Strong communication and critical thinking skills

This assignment begins July 20, 2026, and offers weekly pay of $2,047.68.
