ICU - Intensive Care Unit

RN - ICU Neuro

Job Details:

• 12-hour night shifts from 7:00 AM to 7:00 PM
• 4 total weekend shifts required per 4 weeks
• Holidays worked based on unit coverage rotation with core staff
• May be placed on standby for a scheduled shift
• Minimum 2 years ICU experience required in a large hospital (450+ beds)
• Level 1 Trauma experience required
• EVD (External Ventricular Drain) experience required
• Candidates with 18 months of Neuro ICU experience will be considered
• 3-6 months travel experience required
• Strong neuro assessment skills and ICP monitoring experience required
• Must pass DYS exam prior to accepting position (2 attempts allowed)
• Day 1 pass/fail exam required - study guide provided with FDI
• SIMs Lab required: Foley catheter insertion and central line dressing changes (pass/fail)
• Patient ratio is 1:2 in Neuro ICU; may float to MS Tele/Tele floors at 1:4 ratio
• First to float; may float to ICU, MS/Tele, Westgate, or AZ General Laveen
• 2-shift floor-specific orientation provided
• Treats patients requiring critical care with neuro diagnoses including craniotomies, brain tumor removal and ablations, brain biopsies, complicated spine surgeries, and scoliosis repair
• Charting system: Cerner EMR
• Monitoring: Philips monitors
• Ventilator experience required
• Respiratory therapy available 24/7
• Pharmacy available 24/7
• Charge nurse present and does not take patients
• Scrub color: Steel Grey for Neuro floors
• Must have natural hair color, no facial piercings
• Men must be clean shaven for fit test
• Must have own vehicle
• Required certifications: ACLS, BLS
