Opportunity:

Registered Nurse - PACU

Job Details:

• 3x12 night shifts from 7:00 PM to 7:00 AM
• Variable weekend requirement
• Patient ratio of 1:2
• Call requirement once every four weeks
• Float to areas of overflow patients, typically surgical short stay unit
• Maximum of 7 days of pre-approved time off
• Must work 2 of 3 major holidays
• May recover surgical patients in the ICU setting
• Provide Phase 1 and Phase 2 PACU recovery care for patients who have undergone surgical procedures requiring anesthesia
• Receive patients directly from OR, EP Lab, Endo, IR, MRI, and ICU
• Recovery time ranges from 30 to 90 minutes depending on patient criteria for discharge
• On nights and weekends, recover and discharge Phase II patients and manage overnight tower and/or ICU patients
• Care for patients across all age groups including infants, pediatrics, adolescents, adults, and geriatrics
• Patient diagnoses include vascular and endovascular, neurosurgery and orthopedics, gynecology and urology, general and bariatric, plastics and ENT, ophthalmology, and pediatric cases (T&A, ears, hernias, cleft lip/palate)
• Operate special equipment including cardiac monitors, blood pressure, heart rate, respirations, O2 saturation, arterial lines, ICP monitoring, dopplers for vascular checks, fetal heart monitors, EKOS, SCD pumps, and wound vacs
• Use Pyxis, EPIC, and Perfect Serve unit systems
• Wear navy scrubs
• Contract staff will be assigned and expected to work a Storm Team and/or Hurricane Team and may be required to report to work during catastrophic events, mass casualty situations, or disasters
• Minimum 2 years of experience required
• Travel experience required
• ICU experience required (Phase 1-2 PACU with ICU background)
• Required certifications: ACLS, BLS, PALS
• Preferred skills include charge nurse experience, conscious sedation, FHM, ICP, telemetry, ventilator management, ICU background prior to PACU, and pediatric experience
• Epic charting system experience preferred
