PACU - Post Anesthesia Care

Job Details:

• Assess, plan, implement, evaluate, and document nursing care of patients in accordance with organizational policies and professional nursing practice standards
• Assess patient physical, psychological, social, spiritual, educational, developmental, cultural, and post-operative planning needs
• Review patient history and physical with patient/family and ensure completion within appropriate timeframes
• Review diagnostic and laboratory data and report abnormal results to physicians and appropriate caregivers
• Formulate and initiate individualized plans of care, including discharge planning, based on patient-specific needs and medical plan of care
• Implement plan of care through direct patient care, coordination, delegation, and supervision of healthcare team activities
• Evaluate patient and family response to care and teaching, revising plan of care as needed
• Document assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation accurately and in a timely manner in the patient record
• Participate in facility shared leadership and contribute to the education, role development, and orientation of facility personnel
• Actively participate in the improvement of national nursing quality indicators and outcomes
• May provide relief charge for staff and workflow of the department at some locations
• Minimum one year of licensed RN experience in PreOp/PACU, ICU, or ED required for core positions
• Minimum two years of licensed RN experience in PreOp/PACU required for PRN positions
• PreOp/PACU experience strongly preferred
• Must possess a current, valid RN license in state of practice
• Required certifications: BLS and ACLS
• PALS certification required within 90 days of start date if assigned to ASC services involving pediatrics
• Associate's Degree or Diploma in Nursing or higher required
