Neuro ICU RN Job in Wausau, WI

Aspirus Wausau Hospital is seeking a Registered Nurse for its Neuro ICU. You'll work three 12-hour night shifts per week—Friday through Sunday, 7:00 PM to 7:30 AM—with a guaranteed 36 hours weekly. This is a 13-week contract assignment beginning May 11, 2026.

Your Role

You'll care for an 8-bed Neuro ICU unit serving stroke, traumatic brain injury, head injury, and neurosurgery patients. Your responsibilities include performing comprehensive neuro assessments, managing basic bedside ICU procedures such as line placement and intubation, and assisting with bolt and drain placements alongside neurosurgery. You must work independently, manage your time effectively, and complete tasks in a timely manner.

Scheduling & Float

You'll float between the Neuro Critical Care ICU and MSICU units, with possible float to other critical care and inpatient units as needed. Every weekend and every other holiday is required. The unit may be low censused, and you may be placed on call with a 2-hour minimum callback.

Required Qualifications

• Wisconsin RN License, BLS, ACLS (AHA or ARC), and NIHSS certification
• Minimum 2 years of critical care experience; 1 travel assignment preferred
• Med/Surg ICU and/or Neuro ICU background with strong neuro assessment skills
• EPIC charting experience
• Familiarity with EVDs and ICP monitoring
• Associate degree or certificate required

Additional Information

You must live outside a 50-mile radius of the facility. Any color scrubs are permitted. During flu season, unvaccinated travelers must wear masks at all times per facility policy.

Compensation

Weekly pay is $2,462.40.
