Opportunity:
Nuclear Medical Technician - Nuclear Med Technician
Job Details:
• Prepare and perform all nuclear diagnostic studies while maintaining the highest standards of patient care
• Prepare room and patient for exam and inject radiopharmaceuticals for diagnostic imaging procedures
• Calculate, measure, and record radiation dosage or radiopharmaceuticals received, used, and disposed of according to State and/or Nuclear Regulatory Commission regulations and practice policies
• Perform procedures to acquire images according to established protocols, using professional judgment to adapt imaging procedure if required
• Consult with Radiologists and other healthcare team members as needed to ensure optimal imaging is performed
• Use proper patient positioning tools, devices, equipment adjustment, and ergonomically correct scanning techniques to ensure patient comfort and safety
• Monitor patient condition during procedures and initiate emergency procedures if needed in response to changes in patient condition
• Reconfirm patient identification, gather relevant information, confirm patient prep, contraindications, address and document patient questions and concerns, and provide accurate explanations and instructions
• Process and perform image quality control, archive images, ensure documentation is complete in all systems, and report diagnostic observations to physicians
• Act as a resource for students, new hires, and fellows, providing clinical and/or didactic instruction and evaluating student performance
• Clean equipment and determine whether performance is safe for operation, performing all required equipment testing for quality control program
• Safely handle hazardous drugs including receipt, storage, compounding, repackaging, dispensing, transporting, and/or disposing as assigned
• Must be accredited through NMTCB or ARRT and licensed through the state of Maine
• Covering a leadership role while the Nuclear Medicine Supervisor is out on maternity leave
