PCU - Progressive Care Unit

Opportunity:

RN - PCU Stepdown

Job Details:

• Work 12-hour shifts starting at 6:45 AM or 6:45 PM, 3 shifts per week
• Every other weekend requirement with 4 weekend shifts in a 4-week schedule; Days - Saturday/Sunday, Nights - Friday/Saturday
• Holiday rotation worked into permanent staff schedule (holiday time off requests will be considered but may not be guaranteed)
• No on-call or standby requirement
• First to float when needed; float to Telemetry or Med-Surg units
• 14-bed PCU/Stepdown unit with 7 rooms and a 1:3 nurse-to-patient ratio
• Care for stepdown patients from ICU including TBI/trauma patients, major surgery, CEA, and sepsis cases
• Must have experience managing arterial and CVP pressure lines, titrating pressors, Precedex, and caring for trach and stable vented patients
• Titrate drips including Precedex, dopamine, dobutamine, and Levophed
• Training provided in telemetry and high-risk medications
• One orientation shift on the unit
• Charting system: Cerner
• Self-scheduling with schedules made 2-3 weeks in advance initially, then up to 9 weeks in advance
• Scrub color: Navy blue
• Must have 2-3 years of experience in specialty; open to first-time travelers
• Must have knowledge and understanding of HCAHPS and core measures
• Must be self-motivated and team oriented
• Required certifications: ACLS, BLS, NIHSS
• BSN not required
• Valid California nursing license required for submission
