Operating Room RN Job in Anchorage, AK

Alaska Native Medical Center is seeking an experienced Registered Nurse for the Operating Room. This is a 91-day travel assignment beginning July 13, 2026, offering competitive compensation and the opportunity to work in a high-volume surgical environment.

Role and Responsibilities

• Work Monday through Thursday night shifts from 6:45 PM to 5:15 AM, with variable third shifts on Saturdays and Sundays
• On-call commitment required; expect approximately 1–2 weekends (Friday after work through Monday morning) and 2–4 weekdays per 3-month period
• Guaranteed 40 hours per week: 36 base hours plus 4 additional hours to support breaks and lunch coverage
• Float within scope to meet facility needs
• Manage 30–40 cases daily across 11 operating rooms, with 1,200–1,500 cases monthly
• Participate in room turnover with a 20-minute target alongside nursing staff and technicians

Surgical Services

Surgical specialties include ENT, general, GYN, neuro, ophthalmology, ortho/total joints, plastics, podiatry, and heavy ortho on weekends. Low-volume pediatrics occur approximately one day per week plus trauma as needed. You will care for patients across all age groups, including neonates, infants, adolescents, pediatrics, adults, and geriatrics.

Required Qualifications and Experience

• Minimum 2 years of operating room nursing experience
• Robotic surgery experience required
• Some trauma experience required
• Proficiency with code response, fire safety, malignant hypothermia, electrosurgical equipment, arthroscopes, and laparoscopes
• Current BCLS, ACLS, and BLS certifications
• Experience with Cerner; EPIC preferred

Compensation and Details

Weekly pay is $2,678.40. Navy scrubs are required; the facility provides OR scrubs. Parking is complimentary.
