Histology Technician Job in Peoria, IL

OSF Saint Francis Medical Center in Peoria, IL is hiring a Histology Technician for their pathology lab. This is a travel position running 91 days, starting July 6, 2026, at $2,116.80 per week.

Schedule & Requirements

• 5x8 night shifts, 10:00 PM to 6:30 AM
• No weekend, holiday, or call requirements
• 12-hour orientation period (non-billable; guaranteed hours do not apply during orientation)
• Daily training with departmental trainer

Credentials & Certifications

• Active Illinois license required
• ASCP certification (HT or HTL) or Certified Histotechnician (HT) via ASCP or Certified Histotechnologist (HTL) via ASCP
• BLS certification is not required
• Must pass all drug screening panels

Experience & Skills

• Proficiency with microtomy, embedding, and ability to perform re-cuts
• Troubleshooting difficult blocks with strong detail orientation
• Experience with special stains, tissue specimens, cell cultures, and microscopic exams
• Knowledge of routine histology, CLIA, IHC, and frozen sections
• Technical proficiency with microtome maintenance, surgical pathology procedures, immunofluorescence, and hematoxylin
• Ability to maintain case integrity in a high-volume lab setting
• Familiarity with EPIC Beaker EMR system

Work Environment

You'll work in a fast-paced pathology lab where attention to detail and consistent quality are essential. There are no specific scrub color requirements. You'll be supported by a trainer during your initial orientation and will collaborate with the broader pathology team to process and analyze tissue and cell specimens efficiently.
