Job Details:

• 8-hour day shifts, Monday through Friday from 7:30 AM to 4:30 PM
• 40 guaranteed hours per week
• No weekend requirements
• Holiday rotation as needed
• No float, on-call, or call back requirements
• Assist with processing of specimens, data entry, and documentation of quality control
• Perform manual techniques and operate instruments including embedding and microtomy for both paraffin and frozen sections using automatic tissue processors, balances, and pH meters
• Select, perform, and monitor staining procedures required for specific diagnoses including evaluation of reagents, stain selection, and monitoring of stained preparations
• Mount coverslips on slides and label appropriately
• Operate and monitor laboratory equipment in accordance with equipment manuals and laboratory policies
• Maintain clean, organized, and hazard-free work area including proper disposal of biohazardous and chemically hazardous materials
• Prepare solutions and reagents in accordance with standard procedures
• Perform frozen sections and participate in daily preparation of paraffin sections for staining including special stains and immunohistochemical stains
• Maintain adequate inventory and order supplies as needed
• Provide guidance on troubleshooting and take appropriate action on maintaining quality
• Perform advanced and specialized histology techniques as needed
• Minimum 2 years of histology experience required
• BS degree in Biological, Health, or Social Sciences or a directly related field required
• Associate Degree or Certificate required
• HTL (ASCP) certification required
