CVOR First Assist Job in New Bern, NC

CarolinaEast Medical Center is seeking a Certified Surgical First Assistant (CSFA) with cardiovascular and vascular expertise to join the surgical services team in New Bern, NC.

Role Overview

You will provide first assist support in the operating room, working across cardiovascular, thoracic, and vascular procedures. Your responsibilities include patient positioning, instrument handling, retraction, suturing, sterile technique maintenance, and coordination with the surgical team. You will float within the hospital as needed and handle both routine and complex surgical cases.

Schedule and Requirements

• Monday–Friday day shifts: 6:45 AM–3:15 PM or 5:30 AM–2:00 PM (heart cases)
• Every third weekend required
• Call shifts required
• 16 hours of orientation provided

Essential Qualifications

• Allied Health Professional credential
• Minimum 2 years of surgical first assist experience
• Prior travel assignment experience required
• Current BLS certification
• Endovascular leg vein experience (required)
• Extensive experience with cardiovascular, thoracic, and vascular procedures
• Proficiency with complex cases including CABG, valve replacements, and endovascular repairs
• Hands-on experience with Da Vinci Xi Surgical System and robotic surgery
• Strong suturing, instrument processing, and sterile technique skills

Preferred Skills

• EPIC electronic health record system experience
