PCU - Progressive Care Unit

RN - PCU Stepdown

Job Details:

• Work 12-hour night shifts from 6:30 PM to 6:30 AM
• Patient ratio of 1:4-5 for both day and night shifts
• Every other weekend requirement
• Minimum of 2 holidays required during contract timeframe
• Required certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS
• Must be competent in arterial lines
• Required to titrate drips including Heparin, Nitro, Dopamine, Cardizem, Amiodarone, and insulin
• Must read and interpret telemetry strips
• Floating required to MedSurg or ICU to take PCU acuity patients
• Navy blue scrubs required
• 1 day of unit-specific orientation provided
• Pass/fail exam on Wednesdays during orientation with 90% passing score required
• Must pass open book exam on skills learned during orientation
• Artificial nails prohibited - refusal to remove will result in contract termination
• Driver's license required at submittal to verify 50-mile radius requirement
• 30 minutes to arrive if called back from on-call status
• Care for adult patients with cardiac med/surg conditions, dialysis, cancer, vascular issues, sepsis, respiratory conditions, stroke, post-stent, and post-pacer placement patients
• Work with overhead lifts, portable lifts, vein finders, and bladder scanners
• Use EPIC charting system
• Focus on patient experience scores, responsiveness, and communication
• Serve diverse cultural populations including Hispanic and Somalian patients
• RTO needed upfront (7 or less days per 13-week contract)
