Telemetry Nurse Shift Manager Job in Bakersfield, CA

You will serve as a Nurse Shift Manager on the Telemetry unit at Mercy Hospital Southwest - Bakersfield, combining charge nurse, clinical mentor, and manager responsibilities. This is a leadership role that requires your presence and judgment on every shift.

Your responsibilities include:

• Provide on-shift leadership to ensure safe, high-quality, and compassionate patient care
• Round on patients and address service or safety concerns
• Serve as a clinical and interpersonal resource for your team
• Take charge nurse assignments as needed based on census and staffing levels
• Support staff and promote a positive work environment
• Float to other units when needed

Schedule and duration: You will work three 12-hour night shifts per week with every other weekend required. This assignment runs for 112 days, beginning April 21, 2026. Overtime is paid after 8 hours per day.

Qualifications: You must have served as a charge RN in your most recent assignment. This position does not accept first-time travelers. You will participate in 3 weeks of orientation: the first week in classroom format and the following 2 weeks on the unit.

Required certifications: ACLS (AHA), BLS (AHA), and NIHSS (AHA or APEX). You must hold a valid California nursing license. BSN is not required.

What to expect: You will chart in Cerner. Manager interviews are part of the hiring process. The hospital reserves the right to cancel up to 4 shifts per 13-week assignment.

Compensation: You will earn $2,759.40 per week.
