Emergency Department RN Job in Newton, Iowa

MercyOne Newton Medical Center is seeking a registered nurse for its emergency department. You will work three 12-hour night shifts per week—Friday, Saturday, and Sunday from 6:30 PM to 7:00 AM—providing direct patient care in a fast-paced clinical environment.

Your Role

As an ED nurse, you will manage a diverse patient population presenting with acute medical and trauma conditions. Your responsibilities include initial patient assessment, vital sign monitoring, medication administration, wound care, and patient education. You will collaborate with physicians, advanced practice providers, respiratory therapists, and other emergency team members to deliver coordinated care and ensure optimal patient outcomes.

Core Duties

• Triage and assess patients presenting to the emergency department
• Monitor patients continuously and respond promptly to changes in condition
• Administer medications and manage IV therapy under physician direction
• Perform wound care, splinting, and other emergency nursing interventions
• Document care accurately and maintain patient confidentiality
• Communicate with patients and families during stressful situations
• Support emergency procedures and trauma resuscitations as needed

Requirements

You must hold a current RN license in Iowa and maintain active competency in emergency nursing care. Current BLS certification through the American Heart Association is required. Experience in emergency medicine is preferred but not required for the right candidate.

Assignment Details

This is a 91-day travel assignment beginning June 29, 2026. You will earn $2,342.34 per week. MercyOne Newton Medical Center is a community-based facility dedicated to providing quality emergency care to Newton and surrounding areas.
