CVICU Registered Nurse Job in Wausau, WI

Aspirus Wausau Hospital is seeking a Registered Nurse for our 12-bed Cardiovascular Intensive Care Unit. This is a 13-week travel assignment offering competitive compensation and the opportunity to work in a specialized cardiac critical care setting.

Position Details

• 12-hour night shifts (7:00 PM to 7:30 AM), 3 days per week
• Guaranteed 36 hours per week
• Every 2–3 weekends required; Friday/Saturday/Sunday rotation
• Every other holiday required
• Potential float to inpatient units as needed, with primary assignment in critical care and acute care clusters
• Call pickup permitted but not required; 1-hour response time if accepted
• Shift lengths may be reduced to 4 or 8 hours due to low census needs

Clinical Responsibilities

• Manage post-operative cardiac patients, acute myocardial infarction, cardiogenic shock, induced hypothermia, and standard CVICU cases
• Patient ratios: 2:1 for CRRT patients; 1:1 for Impella support
• Perform cardioversions, arterial line placements, and line discontinuations
• Demonstrate proficiency with Swan catheters, intra-aortic balloon pumps (IABPs), and post-operative heart care
• Utilize EPIC charting system

Requirements

• Current Wisconsin RN License
• BLS and ACLS certifications
• Minimum 2 years of cardiac nursing experience
• Associate Degree or Certificate in Nursing required; Bachelor's Degree preferred
• CCRN certification preferred but not required

Compensation & Duration

• Weekly pay: $2,428.20
• Assignment duration: 91 days
• Start date: August 17, 2026
