About this role
Novant Health SouthPark Surgery Center Rapid Response is seeking a Registered Nurse for our Post Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU). This is a 77-week travel assignment beginning September 21, 2026.
Schedule & Shift Details
- 5x8 day shifts: 6:00 AM–2:30 PM and 7:30 AM–4:00 PM (you will work a mix of both times)
- No call requirement
- No weekend requirement
- Scheduling per unit needs
Assignment Overview
You will provide post-anesthesia recovery care across multiple patient age groups—infants, pediatrics, adolescents, adults, and geriatrics. Common diagnoses include eye and ENT cases. Special procedures include BMTs, tonsillectomies, adenoidectomies, sinus procedures, and cataract extractions. You may float to other Charlotte-area ambulatory surgery centers (COSC, Ballantyne ASC, Huntersville ASC, Center City) if needed, though this occurs rarely.
Key Responsibilities
- Monitor and manage patients in recovery phases
- Start and maintain intravenous lines
- Conduct pain assessment and management
- Provide discharge instructions and medication reconciliation
- Obtain operative and procedural consent
- Apply malignant hyperthermia protocol
- Work in a manual (non-computerized) charting environment
Requirements
- Current RN license
- Minimum 2 years of clinical experience (first-time travelers accepted)
- ACLS, BLS, and PALS certifications
- EKG testing prior to start date
- Strong ambulatory and outpatient setting skills
Preferred Experience
Pediatric PACU, Phase I and Phase II recovery, ENT and general/ophthalmology surgery, emergency medications, opioid management, reversal agents, airway assessment, placement of oral/nasal airways, general/local/monitored anesthesia care (MAC), 12-lead EKG/ECG interpretation, and pre/post-operative procedures.
