PCU - Progressive Care Unit

RN - Stepdown

Job Details:

• Work 3x12-hour day shifts per week
• Every other weekend required
• 8-week assignment duration
• Care for cardiac surgery patients post-ICU on the Cardiovascular Stepdown/Telemetry unit
• Manage chest tubes including Emerson/PleurEvac systems
• Monitor and manage dysrhythmias including interpretation and telemetry monitoring both on-unit and remote
• Manage cardiac and vasoactive drips including titration
• Perform and assist with pre/post cardiac surgery, pre/post cardiac cath, and post cardiac angiogram care
• Administer blood products and manage IV insulin, heparin, and insulin drip protocols
• Provide central line, PICC line, and peripheral line care and management
• Manage patients on BiPAP/CPAP, high flow nasal cannula, and non-invasive airway support
• Perform phlebotomy, wound care/wound vac, and tracheostomy care and management
• Manage renal failure patients including pre/post hemodialysis care
• Utilize Rapid Response/Code teams as needed
• Patient ratio is 4:1 for days, nights, and weekends
• 21-bed unit serving adult patient population
• Interdisciplinary support includes IV teams, physical therapy, respiratory services, pharmacy, radiology, and more
• Charting via Epic system required
• 2 years of RN experience required
• Active VA or Compact license in hand at time of submission required
• Required certifications: BLS, ACLS
• Trauma Level II experience required; Trauma Level I and previous charge experience preferred
• Community hospital experience required
• 24 orientation hours included
