ICU - Intensive Care Unit

Job Details:

• Work 12-hour shifts with day shift hours from 6:30 AM to 6:30 PM and night shift hours from 6:30 PM to 6:30 AM
• Every other weekend required, with weekends defined as Saturday and Sunday
• Minimum of 2 holidays required within the contract time frame
• Self-scheduling for travelers added into core staff schedule; block scheduling not guaranteed
• 33-bed ICU with an average daily census of 16 patients
• Nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:2-3 for adult patients
• Common patient diagnoses include trauma, cardiac, overdose/substance abuse, sepsis, post-stent, pacemaker placement, stroke, vascular cases, renal failure, heart failure, and respiratory distress
• Required to titrate drips including cardiac drips, insulin, and sedation
• Required to read, interpret, and document telemetry strips using GE monitor equipment with tele tech oversight
• Required to work with respiratory equipment ranging from nasal cannula to ventilator
• Floating may occur to PCU or occasionally MedSurg with a typical ratio of 1:4 or 1:5
• Nurse aides available based on census; Healthcare Support tech available 3 days per week Monday through Friday from 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM
• If placed on call and called back in, must be able to arrive within 30 minutes
• 1 shift of unit-specific orientation provided
• Charting system is EPIC
• BSN not required
• Driver's license required at submittal
• Artificial nails are prohibited in all patient care departments
• Must pass an open book skills exam with a minimum score of 90% during orientation
• Required certifications: ACLS, BLS, NIHSS
