Opportunity:

RN - ER

Job Details:

• 12-hour shifts available with the following shift times: 7:00 AM–7:00 PM, 11:00 AM–11:00 PM, 3:00 PM–3:00 AM, and 7:00 PM–7:00 AM
• Night shift position with every other weekend requirement
• 4 weekend shifts required per month: can be scheduled as 1 per week or 2 every other week
• No block scheduling — traveler must be flexible with scheduling
• Travelers are expected to work holidays unless the holiday falls during contracted time off
• No on-call requirement, but may be placed on standby for low census; if called in from standby, a 30-minute response time is required
• Float requirement: first to float, but no floating outside of the ER
• Must have a minimum of 2 years of ER experience
• No first-time travelers accepted
• Duo assignments not accepted
• Must have experience with both pediatric and adult patients (approximately 50% of patient population is pediatric)
• Must have triage experience
• Travelers must have experience comparable to the volume of approximately 325 patient visits per day across both ERs
• Required to float to Pediatric ER as needed
• Patient ratios: ICU 1:2, Pediatric ER 1:4, Adult ER 1:4, procedural sedation 1:1
• Basic EKG interpretation test assigned during orientation; critical care RNs will be assigned additional curriculum including STEMI and procedural sedation content
• Adult ER has 36 treatment areas; Pediatric ER has 12 treatment areas plus 8 fast track pods
• Common diagnoses include respiratory failure, asthma, abdominal pain, fractures, substance abuse, and minor walk-in complaints
• Adult ER serves as a STEMI, CVA, and burn receiving center
• Pediatric ER is a designated pediatric receiving center
• Charting system: Cerner
• Telemetry: Philips telemetry system with a monitor technician on unit
• Scrub color: Navy blue for RNs; no hoodies, sweatshirts, or sweat jackets permitted
• Required certifications: ACLS, BLS (AHA), PALS, NIHSS
