RN - Infusion

Job Details:

• Provide comprehensive nursing care to infusion patients in collaboration with a multidisciplinary team
• Facilitate and oversee infusion patient referrals for tests and treatments to other offices or specialties
• Coordinate and oversee appointment scheduling for infusion patients
• Post patient test and examination results and communicate with referring providers to complete circle of care
• Observe and report patient conditions and reactions to drugs, treatments, and procedures to referring providers
• Administer specialty IV fluids via peripherally or centrally placed catheters using infusion order sets
• Maintain CVC, PICC, or other IV access devices per INS/ONS and facility guidelines
• Independently operate IV infusion pumps, cardiac monitors, non-invasive blood pressure machines, AED computers, and electronic health record systems
• Identify, assess, and diagnose problems through patient assessment and interactions
• Prepare for infusion patients prior to administration by reviewing orders and communicating with referring physicians, oncologists, and pharmacy
• Develop and participate in educating patients and their families about post-discharge care programs
• Initiate patient care meetings with the healthcare team to review the plan of care
• Ensure prior authorization is initiated as needed per patient referral for infusion services
• Manage high patient volumes and multiple patients simultaneously
• Utilize critical thinking skills and function independently to make decisions based on standards
• Recognize adverse signs and symptoms and react promptly in emergency situations, including implementing life-saving procedures
• Must have ability to lift and/or move up to 50 lbs
• Current Alaska nursing license required
• Required certifications: BLS and ACLS
• Minimum 1 year of clinical nursing experience preferred
• Prior experience in infusion or specialty nursing preferred
