Description
Opportunity:
Registered Nurse - PCU
Job Details:
• Night shift position working 6:45 PM to 7:15 AM, 36 hours per week only
• Patient ratios vary per acuity: 1:4 for surgical step down and 1:5-6 for lower acuity
• Weekend requirement: 4 shifts per 4 weeks (flexible)
• Float requirement: Will follow unit rotation - not first to float
• 24-hour unit orientation provided
• Scrubs color: Navy
• Minimum 2 years of experience on a cardiac floor required
• Travel experience required unless traveler has more than 24 months of cardiac experience
• Must pass EKG testing prior to start
• Required certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS
• Required skills include: Cardiac Telemetry, PCU/DOU/IMC/Stepdown, Sheath Removal, Interpretation and Management of dysrhythmias, Post MI, Pre/Post Cardiac Cath, Manage and Titrate Cardiac drips, Chest tubes (Emerson/Pleuravac), External CPAP/BiPAP, Nasal Cannula, Non-invasive airway management
• Preferred skills include: Arterial line management, Wound Care/Wound Vac, and Charge Experience
• Special equipment used includes: Doppler, Bladder scanner, EKG, Femoral Sheaths, TR Band, Fem-stop, Chest tubes, Epicardial Pacing Wires, and Cardiac Drips
• Documentation systems: Pyxis, EPIC, SBAR
• Patient population includes adults and geriatrics
• Patient diagnoses include: Atrial Fibrillation, CHF, ACS, CAD, Aortic stenosis/regurgitation, Mitral Regurgitation/Stenosis, Endocarditis, Cardiomyopathy, PVD, PAD, Vasculitis, Carotid stenosis, and Venous stasis
• Special procedures include: CABG, AVR, MVR, TAVR, Mitral Clip, LAAO (Watchman procedure), VATS, Carotid endarterectomy, FEM-POP bypass, Amputations, Cardiac surgeries, Thoracic surgeries, Post cath, Post DCCV, Post electrophysiology procedures, and Pacemaker placements
• Contract staff will be assigned and expected to work a Storm Team and/or Hurricane Team and may be required to report during catastrophic events, mass casualty, or disaster situations
