CVICU RN Job in Omaha, NE

You'll work as a Registered Nurse in the Cardiac Vascular Intensive Care Unit (CVICU) at CHI Health Creighton University Medical Center - Bergan Mercy, a Trauma Level 1 acute care facility in Omaha, Nebraska.

Schedule and Assignment

• Work three 12-hour night shifts per week (6:30 PM to 6:30 AM)
• Every other weekend requirement
• Every other holiday or as needed based on unit needs
• May float to all inpatient units excluding Maternity/NICU

Clinical Responsibilities

• Provide 1:1 nursing care in an 18-bed CVICU unit
• Care for open heart, complex thoracic, and vascular patients
• Support patients stabilized with Impella, IABP, CRRT, and ECMO
• Manage post-operative patients from cardiac surgeries, lytic cases, carotid interventions, TCARs, Fempop procedures, and EVARs/Endo AAAs
• Titrate vasopressors, paralytics, narcotics, sedation, and antiarrhythmic drips
• Read and interpret telemetry strips independently
• Operate all respiratory equipment including ventilators, CPAP, BiPAP, and high-flow oxygen
• Use EPIC charting system

Requirements

• Minimum 1 year of experience with CVICU patient population
• Current BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications
• Reside more than 50 miles from the facility
• Cannot be employed full-time, part-time, or PRN with CommonSpirit affiliated facilities

Orientation and Conditions

• Two shifts of unit-specific orientation provided
• Must pass open-book exam on Friday during orientation with 90% score
• Navy blue scrubs required; artificial nails prohibited
