PACU - Post Anesthesia Care RN Job in Hilo, HI

You will provide direct patient care in the Post Anesthesia Care Unit at Hilo Medical Center, supporting patients through pre-operative assessment, Phase I recovery, and Phase II recovery. Your role includes monitoring vital signs, assessing incision sites, tracking body temperature, and identifying any signs of complications or patient instability.

• Shifts rotate between 8, 10, and 12 hours, with days, evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays all part of the schedule
• You may be assigned to either the ASU or PACU units depending on facility needs
• On-call duty occurs 0–3 times per month, including 8-hour night shifts and 24-hour weekend or holiday on-call periods
• Hours and shift preferences are not guaranteed

You will demonstrate advanced knowledge of anesthesiology and post-surgical care, apply critical care skills to monitor patients, and operate equipment including Meditech, PCA Pumps, Pyxis, Braun IV Pumps, Cryocuff, SCDs, Bair PAWS Warmers, HP Monitors, and Phillips Monitors.

Requirements:

• Valid RN license in the state of Hawaii, active by your assignment start date
• Valid BLS and ACLS certification from the American Heart Association
• PALS credential from the American Heart Association is recommended and may be required
• 2 or more years of critical care experience as an RN in a hospital ER or ICU setting may satisfy PACU experience requirements
• Other specialty-related certifications such as NIHSS and TNCC are preferred and may be required
