X-Ray Technician

Opportunity:

SMH General X - SMH : L1RAD : X-Ray Tech

Job Details:

• Monday through Friday day shift, 8-hour shifts
• On-call, callback, and holiday shifts per unit needs
• 2 to 3 on-call shifts per month required
• Must be able to report within 30 minutes to on-call shifts
• Verify patients' identity and review physician orders before beginning X-ray procedures
• Use X-ray equipment to take radiographic images of patients' bones, tissues, and organs per physician written orders
• Explain X-ray procedures to patients and answer their questions
• Position patients accordingly, including lifting and moving patients with limited mobility
• Handle all radiologic equipment safely and properly, keeping dose to patient as low as possible
• Observe each patient's status and interpret appropriate information needed to meet age-specific needs
• Produce diagnostic, high-quality images for interpretation by the Radiologist
• Promptly notify management of damaged or malfunctioning X-ray equipment
• Utilize electronic patient information systems to verify patient name, date, appropriate exam, and special exam-specific comments
• Understand and practice the dual patient identifier procedure
• Maintain accurate patient record keeping by properly identifying images and ensuring images are sent to the PACS system correctly
• Minimum 2 years of X-ray Technologist experience required
• Level 1 trauma center experience required
• Recent OR experience at a trauma 1 center required
• Experience using C-arm/O-arm within the past 8 months required
• Completion of formal training in an approved School of Radiologic Technology required
• Certification through the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) required
• New York State license or ability to obtain license prior to starting required
• BLS certification (American Heart Association only) required
• Ability to move or lift patients and stand for extended periods required
