About this role
You will work as a Registered Nurse in Medical Surgical nursing at Barnes-Jewish Hospital Nursing in Saint Louis, Missouri. This is a 91-day travel assignment starting July 20, 2026, with 3x12 night shifts. You'll earn $2,086.82 per week with guaranteed hours.
Role Overview
You'll care for patients admitted from the ED, OR, and ICU with conditions including trauma, geriatric trauma (age 55+), abuse and violence-related injuries, motor vehicle accidents, falls, and acute care surgery cases such as appendicitis, gallbladder procedures, hernia repairs, fistulas, wound management, burns, and traumatic brain injury. The unit operates 31 rooms with 63 beds and maintains a daily census of 50–55 patients. You'll serve adolescents, adults, and geriatric populations.
Requirements and Experience
- Current RN license
- 5 years of nursing experience
- Travel nursing experience required
- Level I trauma experience required
- BCLS and ACLS certifications
- Must pass Relias EKG exam with interpretation and management of dysrhythmias
Clinical Skills and Responsibilities
You'll perform blood product administration, peripheral line care and management, phlebotomy, IV insertion, insulin administration, and PCA management. You'll care for patients with spinal cord injuries, traumatic brain injury, orthopedic trauma, and peripheral nerve block catheters. You'll manage post-operative care including surgical drains, chest tubes, CPAP/BiPAP, and high-flow nasal cannula. Wound care and wound vac management are core responsibilities.
Scheduling and Unit Details
You'll work 36 or 48 hours per week with guaranteed hours and a patient ratio of 1:4–6. Every other weekend is required. Float within the service line as facility needs dictate. No on-call responsibilities. Maximum 7 days of RTO per 13-week contract. Navy blue scrubs are required. The facility uses EPIC charting.
Equipment and Support
You'll work with patient lifts, restraints, wound vacs, traction devices, and external fixators. This role supports patients requiring complex wound management and orthopedic care.
