Operating Room RN Job in Des Moines, IA

You'll work as a Registered Nurse in the Operating Room at UnityPoint – Iowa Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines. This is a 91-day travel assignment beginning June 22, 2026, with a weekly pay of $2,566.08.

Schedule & Expectations

• 3x12 rotating shifts with 16-hour guaranteed shifts
• Weekend coverage as scheduled
• Required to work 1–2 of 3 upcoming summer holidays (Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day)
• Float across all campuses, including Iowa Methodist Medical Center and Iowa Lutheran

Duties

• Handle an average of 35–50 cases per day with turnover expectations under 20 minutes
• Work in 16 operating rooms with 12–14 running routinely
• Maintain 1:1 patient ratios in 16-bed unit
• Perform both scrubbing and circulating duties
• Work with service lines including cardiac/peripheral vascular, neuro, orthopedic trauma, robotics, gynecology, urology, general surgery, pediatrics, and transplants
• Operate specialized equipment including 3 da Vinci robots, Stealth technology for neuro navigation, and Synthes or Stryker orthopedic systems

Requirements

• 24 months of current operating room experience
• Experience in general, da Vinci robotics, pediatrics, and trauma cases
• Trauma Level II experience required; Level I experience highly preferred
• EPIC electronic medical systems experience within the previous 3 years
• Completed a travel assignment within the previous 15 months
• Valid Iowa nursing license or compact/multistate license
• BLS (AHA) certification

Scrubs are provided by the facility. You'll join a team managing high-acuity surgical cases across multiple specialties with access to advanced surgical technology.
