Opportunity:

RN - NICU

Job Details:

• 13-week assignment with 36 or 48 hours per week available
• Night shift schedule
• 3 weekends required per 6-week scheduling period; every other holiday
• Unable to approve time off Labor Day weekend
• Maximum of 40 hours of time off per 13-week contract; no additional time off approved after offer acceptance
• Time off cannot be approved during the first two weeks of assignment
• Patient ratios: 1:2 during days; 1:2-3 during nights and weekends; 1:1 or 1:2 for ICU patients; 1:3 for stepdown patients
• Required to float to PICU, Pediatrics, Postpartum, and Labor & Delivery (newborn catching and transition)
• Minimum 2 years of experience required
• Full-time Level III NICU experience is required; Level IV experience is highly preferred
• Required certifications: BLS, NRP (must be in-hand at time of submission), and Dr. Brown's Infant Driven Feeding Certificate (may submit with certification pending)
• Epic charting system experience required
• Virginia nursing license required; pending licenses accepted
• Nursys verification required with submission
• References required
• BSN preferred
• Must have strong experience with the following skills:
   - High frequency ventilators and conventional ventilators
   - iNO (inhaled nitric oxide)
   - Tracheostomy care and management
   - NIPPV/NIMV, CPAP, and BiPAP
   - IV fluid management including drips and titration
   - Hemodynamic support
   - Post-operative care
   - Whole body cooling
   - Admissions, IV placements, and lab draws (heel and venous)
   - Wound, drain, line, and ostomy care
   - CVL dressing changes and IV fluid changes
   - ABG interpretation and medication calculations
• Must be able to assist with intubation, lumbar puncture, PICC placement and dressing changes, umbilical line placement, and chest tube placement
• Special equipment includes ECMO, Arctic Sun for whole body cooling, Drager Ventilators, HFOV/HFJV, and bCPAP
• Interdisciplinary support available including physical therapy, respiratory services, radiology, pharmacy, social services, and more
• Patient population includes neonates and infants with diagnoses such as extreme prematurity, cardiac anomalies, sepsis, NEC, and neurologic and genetic anomalies
