Med Surg RN Job in Florence, SC

You will work 4x12-hour day shifts from 7:00 AM to 7:30 PM on a medical-surgical unit at MUSC Health - Florence. Standard patient ratios are 1:6, with potential flex to 1:7 during unplanned absences. Every other weekend and PRN on-call coverage are required. You may be called off approximately one shift per two weeks during low census periods.

Floating to other med-surg units to meet facility needs is part of the role. You will care for adult and geriatric patients with diagnoses including diabetes, renal disease, hypertension, coronary artery disease, stroke, chest pain, and altered mental status. All patients are eligible for telemetry monitoring, which is managed by central monitor technicians.

Required qualifications:

• Current SC or Compact license in hand before start date
• BLS certification
• Epic charting experience
• 2 years of experience preferred; first-time travelers accepted

Preferred certifications: ACLS, NIHSS

Required skills: Med/Surg, MS/Telemetry, insulin administration, and rapid response team participation.

Additional skills valued: Port access and management, blood product administration, central line blood draws, chest tube management, heparin, wound care and wound vac, tracheostomy care, and PICC line management.

You will work in a unit with interdisciplinary support including IV teams, physical therapy, respiratory services, pharmacy, radiology, and rapid response teams. Telemedicine equipment is used on the unit, and instruction will be provided. Scrub color is royal blue, and free parking is available.
